In my eBook “10 Powerful Ways to Create Your Online Cash Machine,” I share with you that the easiest and quickest way to make money online is to sell on eBay and Amazon. Both platforms have hundreds of millions of shoppers who are ready to buy. You don’t need to worry about traffic. However, it is just hard to take the first step for many beginners. May be you are not confident that you can do it or you are not sure how to do it. In this blog, I want to share with you how Jessica Larrew, a stay-at-home mom, makes 6-figure income selling on Amazon. I am sure you will be inspired by Jessica Larrew’s story.
Jessica Larrew had a 9-to-5 day job working in the housing market selling tiles and stones in a small town in California. She was laid off when the US housing market fell. While taking care of her kid at home, Jessica started to search for ways to make money online.
She began with eBay selling things she got from yard sales and shrift stores. Then she moved to Amazon. She and her husband went from drugstores to drugstores looking for clearance items (usually at 75% off) that they can sell for a profit online. They sell health and beauty products, toys, groceries and almost anything that you can buy online. Sometimes they also buy wholesale on eBay and sell them on Amazon.
You may wonder why people don’t go to their local retail stores to buy these items. Instead they pay more buying online. Jessica’s explanation is that for people living in small towns where there are not many retail stores, they are willing to buy on Amazon at a premium price for the sake of convenience of door delivery. Plus, items that are on clearance in your store may be at full price at the other stores. Wherever there is a price difference, there is business.
Handling packing, shipping and customer service all by one person can be very time-consuming. That’s why many people don’t like to sell physical products online. Jessica Larrew gets rid of most of the headaches by using Amazon FBA program since 2010.
She sends her inventory to Amazon Fulfillment Center with proper labels. When an item has been sold on Amazon, Amazon Fulfillment Center will pack and ship the order to the customer. It saves a huge amount of work from her and gives her more time to expand her online business. Her Amazon FBA business not only replaced her income, but also replaced her husband’s full-time income.
In 2013, Jessica Larrew and her husband made about $300,000 in sales working part-time. Jessica Larrew is very open to share her income breakdown on her website. According to her, one third of the total amount is her profit, one third goes to Amazon (including fees for FBA program) and one third is the cost of products.
You see Jessica Larrew’s business model is very simple. The reason that a lot of people could not take their first step is that they tend to make things complicated. They thought they need to import the goods from overseas. They need to take care of customs clearance and rent a warehouse, etc.
Actually you don’t have to worry about all these at the beginning. To get started selling online, just go to your local retail stores to buy some clearance items with deep discounts and list them on eBay or Amazon. You can even start with unopened items you don’t need in your house.
Jessica was interviewed by Sicorra from Tacklingourdebt.com in 2013. She was on Pat Flynn’ popular podcast in February 2014. Her story has inspired many people to pursue their dreams online.
Now Jessica offers Amazon Boot Camp Training program to help others sell on Amazon to make extra income. This is a perfect example of starting with physical products then gradually move to information products.
Jessica’s story has proved once again that it is possible to make a full-time income working online. If she can do it, you too can do it:) I hope you enjoy Jessica Larrew’s success story selling on Amazon. More importantly, I hope you are motivated to take action. I am looking forward to your success stories. Download “10 Powerful Ways to Build Your Online Cash Machine(2014 Edition)” if you haven’t.
